After years of working in management and administration for a phone company, founding partners Tamara Barnett and Melissa Branchau launched A+ Bookkeeping & Payroll Services, LLC in 2005. Both were accounting majors and straight A students, and both had been doing bookkeeping for small business owners on the side, so combining their talents to provide bookkeeping, payroll, and tax services was a natural fit. From the start, they wanted their new agency in Columbia, Tennessee, to sport a friendly, open atmosphere where clients would feel at home and be comfortable asking questions. They also were determined to provide top quality services at reasonable prices. They aimed to be known for accuracy, approachability, and aptitude, so A+ seemed like a very appropriate name for their new venture. In 2007, A+ Bookkeeping & Payroll Services opened a second office in Murfreesboro, which also serves clients in the Smyrna, Franklin, and Brentwood areas. Today, Tamara owns and operates the Columbia office—in a wonderful old house that has been converted into homey office space—with five full-time bookkeepers. In addition to servicing Columbia, her office supports clients in Spring Hill and the surrounding counties. Melissa owns and operates the Murfreesboro office, which is located in Murfreesboro’s historic district just off the square. Tamara and Melissa have maintained their original partnership, but it has evolved into A+ Tax Services, LLC and is the venue all of their tax work is done through. Whether you need help with bookkeeping, payroll, taxes, or QuickBooks training, you’ll get high-quality professionalism and friendly personalized care at A+. Our rates are very competitive, and if we make an error that results in a penalty assessment, we pay the penalty.
